I’ve looked long and hard for something like this and finally found a FREE solution that works.
This add-in is hard to find and might not be in development as the developer has pulled it from his website. There are a couple of versions floating around the Internet but only one worked for me.
I’m using Outlook 2007 and I haven’t tested it on 2000 nor 2003 but since the add-in was developed for 2000 and 2003 and works on 2007, I’m assuming it’s okay for all three versions hence the title of the post.
What will this add-in do for me you ask? Well, when you close Outlook if you have open messages that you still haven’t responded to or need for reference but didn’t want to flag, task them, etc…those messages will automatically open back up the next time you open Outlook!!! I love this and YOU WANT THAT!!! Don’t you?
Right about now you’re probably asking yourself or me, how do I get it??? Well, click here Windows Manager for Outlook 1.0.0.2 and you’re welcome!
To make this work you’ll have to read the file named “WinMan.txt” in the archive.
Although I’m not the developer, I would like to get feedback and hear how it’s working or not working for you.
Increase PST/OST File Size Limit, Past 20GB in Microsoft Outlook 2k2/2k3/2k7 ~ You Want That!!!
by LTxda on Aug.24, 2009, under Things of Interest
A thank you goes out to George S. who let us know about the registry hack to increase the PST/OST file size limit for Microsoft Outlook way way way waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay past the 20GB limit! Thanks George!!!
According to http://www.windowsitpro.com , the file size limit of a Unicode PST is not 20GB, it’s an incredible 33TB!!! This only applies if you are running Microsoft Outlook 2002, 2003 or 2007, respectively Outlook versions 10.0, 11.0, and 12.0. As mentioned in the article linked below, increasing the PST/OST file size limit will affect performance so it’s up to you to determine the sweet spot on your own system. A 100GB PST might perform very well on a system with an SSD and Quad Core CPU but could cause serious issues on a system with a 100GB IDE drive and a P4 CPU…you never know. If you’re interested in playing with the registry….WARNING WARNING WARNING – ONLY EXPERIENCED USERS SHOULD TAMPER WITH THE REGISTRY!!!….that said, you do so at your own risk and if you crash your system you’re on your own, don’t post requests for help as they will be deleted without a response. Happy hacking!

Update: We also wanted to provide a link to Microsoft’s site – How to configure the size limit for both (.pst) and (.ost) files in Outlook 2007 and in Outlook 2003.
